Introducing Alegrias.Lab
Founded by Romanian writer-director Alecs Nastoiu, Alegrias.Lab is a creative laboratory dedicated to developing contemporary stories through experimentation, collaboration, and accessible filmmaking tools.
Created as an evolving environment for filmmakers, actors, and multidisciplinary creators, the Lab focuses on independent storytelling shaped by flexibility, minimal production methods, and conceptual precision. Rather than depending on large-scale infrastructures, Alegrias.Lab embraces the creative possibilities of what is already available – from photo cameras and action cameras to mobile phones and lightweight digital tools.
The philosophy behind the Lab is simple: stories should remain close to reality while exploring new cinematic languages born directly from the technologies used to create them.
Working across feature films, vertical storytelling, and interactive media, Alegrias.Lab develops projects that move fluidly between formats. The Lab is particularly interested in hybrid narratives that blur the boundaries between cinema, digital experiences, and emerging forms of audience interaction.
Many of the projects developed within the Lab explore themes connected to contemporary life: digital alienation, identity and privacy, psychological behavior, invisible systems of control, and the emotional impact of technology on human relationships. These stories are grounded in the present while often extending toward near-future realities shaped by evolving human behavior and digital culture.
Collaboration stands at the center of the Lab’s identity.
